The bonobo is popularly known for its high levels of sexual behavior. Sex functions in conflict appeasement, affection, social status, excitement, and stress reduction. It occurs in virtually all partner combinations and in a variety of positions. This is a factor in the lower levels of aggression seen in the bonobo when compared to the common chimpanzee and other apes. Bonobos are perceived to be matriarchal: females tend to collectively dominate males by forming alliances and use sexuality to control males. A male's rank in the social hierarchy is often determined by his mother's rank. BBC

as avid readers of this blog will know
In some societies and cultures someone always has to cross the bloody boundaries. For millennia humans lived alongside chimp and bonobo never mixing until colonialism*, which apparently had something to do with taking it up the Nile and the Congo. Then the men with the vastly inflated egos and atrophied genitalia came and in between the slavery and pillage decided to have sex with the locals, even though they called them 'animals' because they had more culture.
Only those corrupted by their own greatness - although I cannot rule out the possibility of being blind drunk or on Iboga - would shag a chimp. By contrast with humans, bonobos have no problem with chimps, they just don't make very good sexual partners when bonobos give it on tap. Poor choices in sexual partners always have unintended consequences.
They say that we still live in a male dominated society. This could very well be true, yet women will not achieve full liberation by following the same mistakes as men - even if they are drunk. We rely on women to make wiser choices when we would rather be clubbing seals. To do as we do shows you are stupid enough to believe your own hype and you should have listened to your mother! To have a true matriarchal society and to pacify the males from idiocy we need sex. Profuse amounts of sex without condition or contract (**) but always with consent. I think the science could even be with me on this one in that it would pacify much of the male species.
* some sources say that the banality of evil is linked with Belgians, although my source may have been Jeremy Clarkson.
(**) this, as I have discovered, is joke could be future conservative policy.
